The transition from graduate school to professional practice is exciting, but it can also feel demanding. New clinicians are expected to balance clinical decision-making, treatment planning, parent communication, documentation,  collaboration, and a growing caseload. Our approach is designed to help Clinical Fellows grow from  capable graduate clinicians into confident, compassionate professionals.  With 30 years of mentoring experience, we understand the questions and challenges that often arise during a CF year. We recognize that every fellow brings unique strengths, learning goals, and clinical interests. Learn Through Experience  

Experience matters, especially during the first year of professional practice. For more than three decades, Westchester Speech and Language Services PLLC has supported developing clinicians as they navigate the real-world responsibilities  of speech-language pathology.  A Clinical Fellowship is an opportunity to move beyond textbooks and practicum experience. It is where you learn how to individualize therapy in the moment, make informed clinical decisions, explain recommendations clearly to families, adjust  goals based on progress, and create therapy experiences that are both engaging and functional.  Our mentorship emphasizes the practical skills that help clinicians thrive, including: 

• Creating thoughtful, measurable, functional treatment goals 
• Planning therapy that reflects each client’s communication needs and interests 
• Building rapport with children, adults, and families 
• Interpreting assessment results and communicating findings professionally 
• Writing clear, clinically appropriate documentation 
• Collaborating effectively with parents, educators, physicians, and related professionals 
• Developing confidence in your clinical judgment 

Grow Into Your Professional Voice  

Your CF year is a time to learn, reflect, and discover the areas of speech-language pathology that inspire you most. You may find that you are especially drawn to early language development, articulation and phonology, literacy,  social communication, executive functioning, fluency, feeding, or another specialty area.
